Hillary Acosta

Hillary graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She began her career in the Lower Mainland at Surrey Memorial Hospital and G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre, where she gained invaluable experience in acute care, rehabilitation, and outpatient neurological physiotherapy.
After taking a three-year hiatus from physiotherapy to run a coffee shop in Mexico, she returned to her hometown of Victoria. In 2011, she began working at Victoria General Hospital and Neuromotion Physiotherapy, where she became the clinical lead physiotherapist and manager. In 2020, Hillary founded Neuro Zone Physiotherapy, a mobile neurological rehabilitation practice focused on helping individuals improve mobility, function, and confidence through meaningful, personalized care.
Hillary has completed extensive postgraduate training in neurological physiotherapy, including Bobath certificate training for hemiplegia, Bobath for incomplete spinal cord injury, advanced Bobath and Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) courses, vestibular rehabilitation, Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) Clinician Training, and the Bad Ragaz Ring Method aquatherapy course.
She is a firm believer in combining individualized exercise, motivation, hands-on manual therapy, and facilitation techniques to help clients achieve meaningful improvements in movement and function. Hillary is passionate about creating therapy programs that are both effective and enjoyable, helping clients build confidence as they work toward their goals.
Hillary was a founding board member and President of MOVE Adapted Fitness and Rehabilitation from its inception in 2013 through 2022, helping establish and grow the organization in Victoria. She also assists with neurological laboratory sessions in the UBC Master of Physical Therapy program.
In her free time, she enjoys running, cycling, hiking, practicing yoga, reading, and being a mom to her three active boys.
