Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Multiple sclerosis is a neurological condition in which the body's immune system attacks the protective covering of nerve fibres in the brain and spinal cord. Because MS can affect many different parts of the nervous system, symptoms vary widely and may include weakness, impaired balance and coordination, muscle stiffness, fatigue, altered sensation, vision changes, dizziness, and difficulties with walking. Symptoms may fluctuate over time and can present differently from person to person. Although there is currently no cure for MS, many individuals continue to lead active and fulfilling lives with appropriate medical management, exercise, and rehabilitation. Individuals can make progress towards their goals by working on functional training and strengthening.
