Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular dystrophy is a group of genetic conditions that cause progressive muscle weakness and muscle degeneration over time. These conditions affect the muscles' ability to function properly, leading to difficulties with movement, balance, mobility, and everyday activities. There are several types of muscular dystrophy, each with its own pattern of symptoms and progression, but all can impact an individual's strength and physical function to varying degrees. Symptoms may begin in childhood or adulthood and can range from mild to more significant mobility challenges. Although there is currently no cure for muscular dystrophy, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, exercise, and supportive care can help individuals maintain function, maximize independence, and improve their overall quality of life.
